The WHS Drama Boosters
The Walkersville High
School Drama Boosters is a
non-profit group of parents, teachers and friends who support the
theatre department at Walkersville High School. Most importantly, we are
a "family" and we enjoy doing whatever we can, in support of WHS
Theatre.
The Boosters run concessions during shows, host the annual awards
banquet, help with costumes, props and set construction, and organize
fundraisers for the drama department. Proceeds from fundraisers and
concessions are used to award scholarships to graduating seniors within
the department, buy trophies for awards and donate money to the drama
department for whatever items are needed. In the past, the Boosters have
been able to help the drama department by providing lights, sound
equipment, microphones, a projector, wall mirrors, extension ladders,
and various tools.
The Boosters recognize that WHS has one of the most active and talented
theatre departments in the area and we enjoy this outlet for our own
creative talents. Over the years, attendees have stated that they look
forward to our concessions to see "what we'll do next". In the past we
have tried to decorate our concessions with the theme of the show. We
had upscale coffee and dessert bar for our Broadway show, 50's
decorations for "Grease"; tropical island for "South Pacific"; hoe-down
for "Oklahoma" and "Lil Abner"; ballpark for "Damn Yankees"; and Oz for
"The Wizard of Oz". We also enjoy serving food representative of the
show. We served root beer floats for "Grease"; pie and ice tea for
"Oklahoma"; candy bars with golden tickets for "Willie Wonka"; ballpark
fare for "Damn Yankees"; and various "theme" drinks for many shows just
to name a few. We enjoy our Brainstorming sessions and concession
decorating.
The WHS Drama Boosters are always looking for new members. We enjoy
supporting our students who work so hard to provide our community with
quality entertainment.
Booster meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month, in the drama
room at 7:00.
